The Grand Dame of Negros Occidental

Grand Dame of Negros Occidental

Please read “Negros” as pronounced “Neh-gross”, not “Nee-gross”. Negros is the name of an island in the Philippines where my Grandmother, mother and other family members of mine are from. It’s in the south, full of large sugar cane and rubber plantations. My grandmother served as Congresswoman for a few terms there and was an iconic force in shaping it’s economy for the better.

Grandma passed this past November just two weeks after my Father and I havent been able to go home to honour her and spent time in our ancestral home, I’m planning a trip later in the year.

I just got word that a museum exhibit has been put up in her honour and someone posted me a few snapshots. I’ll ad to this as i learn more.

Mahal kita, Lola.
